Very nice here. Lots of space and things to do.
We don't belong to the Recreation gym/indoor pool. It is a bit expensive esp for non township residents and folks on a fixed income. Overall I say it is 5 stars. They are building a new picnic shelter next to the playground. They also have very clean restrooms. But I do they need to I stall bathrooms in the old shelter which was once a part of the old Mayview hospital . When it is hot outside you can walk in plenty of shade up a paved tree lined walkway if you up on the far left of the park entrance to top of hill.
We live just north of this large park, in Mt. Lebanon, but we head south to get here often because of the sprawling park lands, multiple amazing playgrounds, trails and ball fields. We frequent the covered sandbox at the playground behind the elementary school, and we also love the large soft-grounded playground by the rec center because of its sheer size and the water mister features. It is fantastic that this particular playground can accommodate wheelchairs, as I enjoy the opportunity for my children to play and interact with children of all abilities.
This place is great. Playground for small children is phenomenal with all sorts of different equipment. Als6very safety oriented. We walk our dogs there every day and have met lots of friendly folks, dog walkers and runners. Place is very clean and they make it easy to keep it that way because they have plenty of waste receptacles and even have dispensers with disposable doggie waste bags. There is feeling of community there if you visit often enough. I feel safe there even when it gets dark because they have lights
This park is a great place to hike and enjoy the forest. It is surrounded by suburbs but provides a peaceful beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The Clubhouse at Boyce Mayview Park playground is awesome!!! The playground theme is the Pittsburgh skyline as seen from PNC Park. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the electronic elements being that it's an outdoor playground. My son's favorite part is playing the piano with his feet on the large piano pad on the ground (like the one Tom Hanks used in the movie Big). I must say they did an awesome job replicating the Steel Building, the Highmark Building, the PPG Building, and the Sixth Street Bridge (Roberto Clemente Bridge).
